About this directory and how we research

Who runs this site

AI Memory Pendant is operated by the team behind Legend Memory, which makes Legend One, an AI memory pendant. We run this site and two sister sites, plaudalternative.com and limitlessalternative.com. All three are static pages with no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored placements.

You should know that because Legend One appears in the directory. A site run by a maker that lists its own product has an obvious incentive to tilt the result. This page explains what we do about that and where the limits are.

How we research

Primary sources

Prices, specs and plan terms come from each maker's own page, which we open on the date shown at the top of each page. If a maker's page does not state a value, the table says so instead of guessing. For Legend, that means Legend Memory's facts page and live product page.

Named reports for events

Acquisitions, price changes and sales milestones come from named outlets or the company's own statement: TechCrunch and Reuters for the Limitless acquisition, TechCrunch for Amazon's Bee deal and Plaud's sales figures, The Gadgeteer for Friend's relaunch.

Public sources for law and science

Recording consent rules come from the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and the Digital Media Law Project. Background on ADHD comes from the National Institute of Mental Health. The prospective memory finding comes from a peer-reviewed paper in PLOS ONE.

Dates

Every price is dated. Prices change fast, so the date matters more than the number.

What we do about the conflict of interest

• Legend appears in the same tables, with the same columns, as every other product.
• We print Legend's downsides: no audio playback, the highest recurring cost in the table, and a design that may not suit people whose conversations are mostly scheduled.
• We print other makers' strengths, including Plaud's scale and certifications and soundcore's device-level data protection.
• We publish no scores, star ratings or quotes.
• We omit facts we cannot reconcile. Legend Memory's own pages state its warranty differently, so we leave warranty out of the tables.
• We keep links to Legend's own site to a minimum: its homepage, its product page, and one Archive post. Other makers are linked to their own pages.

That does not remove the bias. It makes it visible and checkable. If you want a verdict from someone with no stake, use our tables for the sourced facts and an outside reviewer for the opinion.

Why this directory exists

People search for "AI memory pendant" and land on either a single maker's sales page or a roundup built around affiliate links. Neither is much help if you want to know, in one place, which devices are actually for sale, what each one keeps, and what each costs after the first year. We wanted a reference page of that kind, and we wanted somewhere to describe Legend One in context with the rest of the category instead of on its own product page.

How we decide what to list

A product goes in the directory if a maker currently sells it to consumers, it turns speech into text or summaries, and it is something a buyer could plausibly weigh against the others. That rule brings in pins, clips, cards, wristbands and pendants. It leaves out smart glasses, phone apps and meeting bots, which are different categories. We also list Limitless as discontinued, because people still search for it and old roundups still recommend it.

We list Friend only to exclude it. It is a companion product, and we say that plainly rather than pretend it is a note taker.

How we handle disagreements between sources

When a maker's page and a news report disagree, we prefer the maker's page for current price and specs and the news report for events and history. When two pages from the same maker disagree, we leave the value out and say why. Legend Memory's warranty is the example: its facts page and its product page state it differently, so no table on this site prints a warranty for any product.

When a number looks like marketing, we attribute it. Battery life, range and accuracy figures are described as the maker's claim, not as a measured result. We have not tested any of these devices in a lab.

What we would like you to check yourself

• The price at checkout. Every price here is a snapshot with a date on it.
• The plan terms. Free tiers, trials and paid plans change, and promotions come and go.
• The privacy policy of any device you plan to wear around other people.
• The return window, and the conditions attached to it.

If a fact is wrong, tell us through the contact route on legendmemory.ai and include the maker page that shows the right figure. We fix errors, update the date, and note material changes at the top of the page.
